News & resources / Media / Telling the propane story with HGTV Canada’s Rock Solid Builds
OTTAWA, January 24, 2022 – The Canadian propane industry has partnered with HGTV Canada’s new hit series Rock Solid Builds, the #1 new Canadian show on Specialty, to help tell the propane story and how this essential, low-emission energy source plays an important role in the everyday lives of Canadians.
The Canadian Propane Association (CPA) is sponsoring the second season of the show, with HGTV Canada’s Rock Solid Builds returning this Thursday, January 27 at 10 p.m. ET/PT. Third-generation builder Randy Spracklin and his team will once again be working with Newfoundland and Labrador’s rugged terrain and harsh weather to tackle difficult renovations and stunning new builds.
“The partnership with HGTV Canada is part of the CPA’s ongoing efforts to highlight the advantages of low-emission propane and help consumers better understand how it is an important energy source wherever they live,” said CPA Interim President and CEO Allan Murphy. “Like so many Canadians, we are big fans of the show. We believe this is a unique opportunity for viewers to see how propane is “energy for all” by providing an affordable, low-emission, and accessible energy option for Canadians.”
Propane produces fewer greenhouse gases than other carbon-based energy sources, and it powers everything from homes, businesses and fleets to running Randy’s “dinosaur” forklift that’s used for everything, from moving shipments, getting supplies in and out of his shop, to moving snowplows around in the winter.
Randy and his team know how to tell a great story. They are down-to-earth, funny, light-hearted and easy to relate to, but they are serious and determined when it’s time to get down to business and get the job done. The crew has created a very strong sense of community and connection both on the set and with viewers across Canada.
“My crew and I are excited to use our platform to raise awareness and support for the CPA. Propane is integral to moving our business ahead and we look forward to championing it in new and authentic ways in Season 2 of Rock Solid Builds,” said Randy Spracklin of Newfound Builders/Rock Solid Builds
The CPA is sponsoring the show itself with closed caption billboards promoting the propane advantage.
Sponsorship also includes custom in-show ‘integrations’ where Randy and his team incorporate using propane into the show, which premieres on March 3, as well as discussing propane in a general conversation, premiering on March 17.
The campaign is also comprised of advertising on Rock Solid Builds and HGTV Canada’s web pages as well as custom-branded content on the website focused on the benefits of propane, in addition to social media promotion and boosting.
With over 400 members, the Canadian Propane Association (CPA) is the national association for a growing, multi-billion-dollar industry that impacts the livelihood of tens of thousands of Canadians. The CPA develops and produces industry training materials, offers an emergency response assistance plan to its members, and provides advocacy services for the propane industry. The CPA does not monitor or provide an analysis of propane prices or supply and cannot comment on individual businesses’ operations.
